Our story

Where did it all start?

We are Maria and Dmitri, the owners of ÖKUT café. Maria is a marketing expert with extensive experience and Dmitri is a chef with gastronomic training and extensive work experience in France, a member of the Estonian Association of Chefs.

In the autumn of 2021, we decided to make a life-changing turnaround, closed the doors of big organisations behind us and started doing something that really matters to us and that we can do to make other people happier.

Half a year of searching for suitable premises, and the same amount of building and renovation work with our own hands, polishing the concept and experimenting in the kitchen – that’s how ÖKUT was born – a place where every guest, every employee and their families matter, where we value health and care about nature.

Why bubble wafers and why are they special?

Bubble wafers are a dish with unlimited possibilities, and can be sandwiched between the simplest homemade fillings as well as gastronomic delicacies. Fillings can also be added to the waffle bubbles during the baking process, making the taste experience even more exciting. We use only natural and pure raw materials, vitamin-rich microgreens straight from the farm, fresh fruit and berries and free-range chicken eggs.

Our food contains no preservatives or flavour enhancers and our waffles contain 40% less sugar than the original Asian recipe. Every early morning, Dmitri personally goes to the local market to find the best ingredients for the café. It is important for us that our dishes can be enjoyed without harming health, that children prefer fresh berries and fruit to sweets full of E-substances. Hence the symbolic name of our café – ÖKUT.

ÖKUT is a place where you can enjoy simple flavours in a new café, come alone or with friends and children, and have fun. Because life is full of moments of happiness, you just have to know how to notice and appreciate them.

New additional direction and new sales channels

As more and more of our delicacies were ordered for different events, we opened our 2023. at the beginning of 2010, with a new website and a convenient ordering centre, where home bubble wafers are just a small part of the options on offer. You are welcome to visit our catering page and e-shop!
