History of Kalamaja Café

09.12.1911 The house will be entered in the land register for the first time. At the beginning of the 20th century, the premises were used as a colonial store (a common name for a food store in pre-war Estonia).
20.12.1918 The house is bought by the current hostess’s great-grandfather, Jüri Martin.
27.11.1940 The house will be transferred and the owner will remain in the house as caretaker.
10.07.1948 Family members are given two hours to pack up and leave the house.
25.07.1994 The unlawfully expropriated house will be returned to Jüri Martin’s two daughters and granddaughter.
25.08.1995 Today’s family moves into one of the flats in the grandfather’s house and the restoration of the house begins.

“Thank you with all the company for a pleasant evening! Everything you provided was delicious and interesting and still evoked emotions the next day. Some people were interested to come and try some of the flavours for themselves.”
